FDA Philippines has launched FDA academy which gives education to professional practitioners handling drugs, food, cosmetics, medical devices etc. as well as internship opportunities to pharmacy students from different pharmacy schools. If we take a look at the advantages there are many but buzz has been otherwise since establishing the academy, this is because of the so much charges being asked for training when it was said to be funded by the government in the first place.
A letter to the ombudsman complaining the leadership of the new secretary Dr. Hartigan-Go for this enterprising practices where a regulatory officer is to be recognized by the FDA but he or she has to undergo the seminars over again (with the same amount of fee - 6000 pesos) if he handles more than one company. A very expensive and impractical practice.
There is still no news as to the reply of Dr. Hartigan-Go on the issue brought to the ombudsman but I hope this will be clarified soon to boost the confidence of the Pharmaceutical businesses in the Philippines that they are safe against abuse of government agencies.
PS: I miss you guys, it has been a while and I was working really hard for my dissertation v.2!
